The Knebworth Festival 1979 consisted of two concerts performed by the English rock band Led Zeppelin and other artists at Knebworth House, Hertfordshire, England, in August 1979. The grounds of Knebworth House near the village of Knebworth had been a major venue for open air rock and pop concerts since 1974. In 1979, veteran promoter Freddy Bannister booked Led Zeppelin to play that year's concerts, which took place on 4 August and 11 August.

I was at Led Zepplin's third to the last concert in Mannheimn Germany, I've been to more concerts than I could possibly remember, that show was 10 times better than anything I've ever seen, no opening act, 3 1/2 hours of straight Zep, about 18 feet from the stage on a ice hockey rink, they played one more night. The Year Of Led Zeppelin.

Back on August 11, 1979, Led Zeppelin performed their final . concert at the 1979 Knebworth Festival. This was Zeppelin's first. While Zeppelin reportedly received the largest fee ever for their performance at the time, and the crowds at the festival were among the largest they had ever played to, the somewhat muted reaction of the audiences was not the response of rock fans experiencing an epic comeback. Knebworth was useless," said Plant after the event. It was no good, because we weren't ready to do it. There was so much expectation there, and the least we could have done was to have been confident enough to kill
